Thanks to everyone's help here I was able to finally determine all the parts I need to build a PC. Here is the final build and I want to verify everything is compatible, and see if anyone has any additional suggestions.

This is a standard PC that I will be using for everyday use. I don't plan on doing any overclocking, and I won't be using this for gaming.

Here are the components

  • Processor: Intel Core i5-6500 3.2GHz LGA 1151
Motherboard: Gigabyte GA-Z170XP-SLI LGA 1151 ATX
Power Supply: SeaSonic M12II 520 Bronze EVO Edition 520W
Case: Corsair Carbide Series 300R Black Steel / Plastic ATX Mid Tower
Memory: Crucial Ballistix Sport 16GB 2 x 8GB DDR4-2400 (PC4-19200) Dual Channel Desktop Memory Kit Model (Model BLS2K8G4D240FSA)
    SSD:Samsung 850 EVO 500GB 2.5-Inch SATA III Internal SSD
HDD: WD Black Desktop Performance 4TB 7,200 RPM SATA III 6Gb/s 3.5" Internal Hard Drive (Model WDBSLA0040HNC-NRSN)
Optical Drive: LG WH16NS40 16x Internal Blu-Ray Rewriter

Thank you for everyone's assistance.

i am building a pc myself and have similar parts http://pcpartpicker.com/p/svCc8d how much in total is you build?

Have not made the purchase yet. I am going to a local store (MicroCenter) and I am hoping they have some nice discounts. But I figure it's going to be roughly around $1000. Might want to ask around the forums to about some opinions on the Corsair CX series PSU. I was looking at those also but I got alot of negative feedback about Corsair which is why I went with Seasonic.

I will point ya to the Tiered list that I was given when I was looking for that particular part

FYI Thanks for showing me PCPartPicker. I didn't realize it tells you the lowest prices and checks compatibility. :)

Im planning on visiting the Microcenter too. I hear they are very hepful, thanks for the link
