Building my very 1st setup, need some help and support

Finally after a long journey I've decided to build my very 1st gaming/streaming setup!

Components:
MB: MSI Z270 TOMAHAWK
CPU: i7 7700K
CPU Cooler: be quiet! DARK ROCK 3
RAM: 16GB (2x8GB) DDR4 3000MHz Team Group Delta RGB Black
PSU: Sea Sonic FOCUS Plus 550 Gold
GPU: MSI GeForce GTX 1060 GAMING X 6G
HDD: 1TB 7200rpm WD Blue
Case: RAIDMAX ALPHA PRIME A15 TTB

That's it..
I'm not sure for only 3 things..
1. Can I overclock the CPU around 4.7 with this cooler?
2. Is the MB good?
3. Will it handle 1080p streaming on CS:GO - LOL 3 times a week ?

1: Probably - Yes - You never know until you try - it does get hot ( I have a 7700k also )
2: Yes (I like MSI and have one also)
3: Yes - maybe even 4 times a week.

Great to hear it. One last thing, one friend mentioned that I may buy the PRO version of the cooler? And what about the PSU? Are 550W overall good for the rig? (I'm worrying about the CPU and GPU power)

550w is fully adequate for a rig with a 1060.

If you are not getting a noticable price reduction then get the new generation i7, the 8700k and Z370 board. This will give you 2 more cores and 4 more threads.

Get the best cooler you can afford and check out the numerous reviews of coolers on the 7700k. I have remounted my DeepCool 240 three different times and get different average temps every time. I will probably try another one some day soon.

My rule of thumb for PS is to find the minimum power neede and double it. That way I don't have to worry about it. Currently I have a Thermaltake 1050 and I have recorded 420w actual PS wattage during gaming. But - no worry. I over designed but Power Supply upgrades are not as expensive as GPU upgrades. I rercommend a 800W for you but a 500W will do.

Too high of PSU can actually become a bad thing. In your example you are likely to still need 200+ watts for regular system usage but when pretty much anything but platinum grade PSUs are outputing <=10% of max load their efficiency drops way down and the PSU actually works harder to output that little of load vs say 20%

so if the diffference is only ~50 for a 8700k jump on it

1. how well you can overclock a I7-7700K is determined by your luck in getting a good chip.
Your odds of 4.7 are good.
As of 6/9/17
What percent can get an overclock at a somewhat sane 1.4v Vcore.

5.0 62%
5.1 29%
5.2 6%

If you are buying new, I suggest you buy 8th gen.
A cheaper i5-8600K will perform as well as a 7700k in threaded apps and will be better in games.
A equal process i7-8700K will be better in both.
Most 8600k 0r 8700k will oc to the 4.7-5.0 level.

On the cooler, it is fine.
But for the similar price, look at the noctua NH-D15s.
The s variants are redesigned for tall ram and are offset to clear graphics cards mounted in the first pcie x16 slot.

Love the Seasonic focus. Highly rated by jonnyguru.
I have no problem overprovisioning a PSU a bit. Say 20%.
It will allow for a stronger future graphics card upgrade.
It will run cooler, quieter, and more efficiently in the middle third of it's range.
A PSU will only use the wattage demanded of it, regardless of it's max capability.


I will never again build without a ssd for the "C" drive. It makes everything you do much quicker.
120gb is minimum, it will hold the os and a handful of games.
But, many things default to the "C" drive.
When a SSD nears full, it will lose performance and endurance.
240gb is the recommended minimum.

If you can go 240gb, or 500gb you may never need a hard drive.

You can defer on the hard drive unless you need to store large files such as video's.
It is easy to add a hard drive later.

Samsung EVO is a good choice for performance and reliability.

Which country is it? total budget?
I recommend I5-8400/I5-8600k if you have a tight budget. 8700k and 8600k has little diff in gaming.
case is not very good imo, Phanteks, Fractal design, Corsair and NZXT make really good cases, cooler master is good as well.
Seasonic psu is best quality
Add an SSD is strongly recommended, faster booting, game loading and system response, etc.

@vapour, I'm from Bulgaria. Well.. the goal is NOT to reach 3000 LEV = ~ 1500 EUR.

Probabbly I will go with the 8700K ,DARK ROCK PRO 3 , Z370 TOMAHAWK, 16 GB RAM , 1060 .. SSD I will buy in a month or two..

You don't need 8700k for streaming those two games...

If you do pick 8700k, get a better MB and cooler for overclocking. ASRock Extreme 4 and Noctua NH-D15 are my choices.

@vapour, will listen to you, and will go with the Exreme 4. Don't like the look of the NH-D15, can you offer me fans to change the stocks?

Uhm, can you tell me whats wrong with the case? Not enough airflow or? Maybe I can go with Phanteks.. its on the same price level..

I will look for NZXT s340, Phanteks P400, Fractal Design Meshify C etc.
