In January I will be building myself a rig designed for gaming and multi-media usage. It is going to be connected to my TV, a 50" LCD, 1080p, 120 hz refesh rate. I am not looking for top of the line, as I am not a power user. My overall budget is about 800 dollars, of which I have 630 tied up in other components right now.
Here is my build.
Intel Core i5-3450 3.1 Ghz Quad Core
8 GB RAM
Intel mobo, has 3 PCI slots, a PCI Express x 4 slot, PCI Express 3.0 X 16 slot, and a standard PCI express slot - full ATX not micro
600 W power supply, has connections for all the things I need including a graphics card
Not sure if the rest matters much, but here it is.
1 TB hard drive
Blu Ray drive and a DVD/CD burner
I am looking for the best graphics card for the remaining 180 dollars or so that I have left. I was looking at this card http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814150617
SLI is not something I'm concerned about.
I am moving away from console systems so as long as my games look slightly better than an Xbox 360 I'll be happy. The specific games I'm interested in are Dishonored, The Witcher 1 and 2, Far Cry 3, Dark Souls, Skyrim, ME 3, and especially Guild Wars 2. If I can run max settings that would be awesome, but if I can't I will be fine still. For my budget I don't expect to build a beast that eats all other systems for breakfast.
