As my old computer had kind of died, i would like to buy a new system. I am not into gaming, my major work would be hours of browsing and some video editing. I don't usually switch off the computer everyday, it will be hours before i give it some rest.

I want to buy an i7 4790, as i won't be upgrading for another 4-5 years. My old motherboard was Gigabyte, so this time too that or Asus, i have a Asus netbook, never heard of Asrock or MSI. Seagate will be the HDD, had a wonderful experience with them till now. RAM would be 8GB, used Dynet before. Would i need a separate GPU? What type of PSU and Cabinet would suit my needs?

I apologize for asking so many questions, i have searched regarding the components to suit my needs but i guess there are quite a number of models and brands compared to the past, it is very confusing. My old system ran for years without giving me much trouble, i would like to build or buy a similar system. My budget would be 50,000 rupees ($ 769) and i am going to buy the system in 3-4 days, maybe even soon.

I knew tom's hardware for some time but this is my first post. Any information would be helpful to me, many thanks in advance.

nice to see someone from Andhra; vande mataram

since you have selected the i7, that takes away around 20 - 22 k from the budget; here is the rest of the specs that I recommend; you did miss out on a key input, whether monitor needs to be part of the build and what resolution is required, so that kind of makes my advise incomplete;

22,000 CPU: i7 4790 with a decent air cooler (heat sink) from your favorite maker
06,000 Mobo: B85 motherboard from your favorite maker
06,000 RAM: 4 GB X 2 sticks of 1600 MHz from Corsair/GSkill
05,000 HDD: 2 TB 7200 RPM 3.5" internal drive from your favorite maker
04,000 PSU: Corsair CX 430/500 bronze certified
04,000 Cabinet: Mid-tower from Cooler Master (N series), or Antec (GX series), or Corsair (Spec series); add 4 fans and make it 3 in 2 out (+ve flow config);
03,000 Any double-battery UPS
------------------------------------------
50,000 browse/edit pc
------------------------------------------

Notes:
1. heat sink and fans help with prolonged usage
2. I would add RAM and make it 4 X $ GB = 16 GB if I had extra cash to throw; helps with video business
3. No Monitor included but a UPS is, as I assume you would not want to lose hours worth of work

Yes, i am from Andhra and Vande Mataram.

I have a working monitor and APC UPS, i think it would suit this system too, if not i will buy another after some time.

Looks like B85 has more ports and slots than H81 but i was thinking of H81 motherboards instead of B85, any particular reason for suggesting B85?

HDD, Seagate will be ok, RAM for now i would go with 8 GB, looks like Corsair is good, will go with it. PSU also, Corsair looks good. Cabinet, Cooler Master is good.

I am not sure if the local shops could install the additional heat sink and fans without any problem, let me see.

And one other thing, if the above components are not available with the local sellers, i might decide differently, i might even buy all these components from online stores and try to build it on my own or with the help of local technicians.

Thanks a lot for the detailed reply Half Life, appreciate it, thank you.

b85 not h81 because
1. pcie lanes are gen 3 in b85 where as are gen 2 in h81; usb gen may also be prev for some boards
2. and some features such as power capacitors, # of sata ports, and some others are bare minimum where as in b85 some what acceptable

Ok, thanks for the reply Half Life. I have only checked H81, did not know about this B85. Let me see what are available in the local stores. Thank you.
