Hello all,

I am building a new PC tomorrow, and currently have an existing retail windows 10 home that can be reinstalled on other devices. Will I need to deactivate windows 10 on my current pc before activating it onto my new PC? It is also currently installed onto a HDD, but I am planning on using my new SSD to boot windows 10.

not if you stop using the old one and don't attach it to internet again or win 10 might blink and be confused which PC it should be on.

See this about moving licence an easy way - https://support.microsoft.com/en-us...e-change-2c0e962a-f04c-145b-6ead-fb3fc72b6665
I didn't deactivate windows 10 on the old pc, but was able to activate it onto my new PC. However, there are still some files that I'd like to transfer from the old pc onto an external drive. I'll be ok to boot up the old pc as long as I am not connected to the internet?

Or would it be better to temporarily deactivate windows on the new pc so I can safely use the old pc ?
