building new system, can't decide on mobo

Well, not being able to run Medieval 2 on high settings annoyed me so I decided it was time to build a new computer. I've already got the PSU (PCP&C 750 Quad) and the HDDs (2x 320gb 7200.10s) and I'm pretty set on the xeon 3060 (heard on here it ran slightly cooler than the e6600) and 8800GTX. What I can't seem to decide is what motherboard to get, and what ram to get with it. I've narrowed it down to these options for mobos:

Commando
P5B-E
QuadGT
BadAx2
965P-DS3

Obviously with one 8800gtx I won't be doing SLI (nor do I plan to in the future) so that isn't a factor and I don't really have a use for frivolous add ons. Price is a minimal factor (only really matters for a tiebreaker) and I'm not too concerned with FSB specifically, just overall OC performance.

Also, I am most likely going for a Tuniq Tower for now, so if any of these can't fit it or the backplate, knowing that would be useful as well.

Hopefully you guys can help me with my indecisiveness on this and I can get this baby ordered by the end of the month.

DS3... if you don't go SLI ever then why buy an SLI board?

Some reviews have come back negative on the 3060 on Newegg... but I would assume that CPU is the cream of the crop. I beleive thats how they are chosen to be Xeons... taken from the same batches as E6600s then tested thoroughly for Xeon branding.

Should be a nice build.

I have one, great board, OC's like a beast. Only thing the DS3 doesn't have is firewire, P5 does. Both are great boards.

I've found Newegg user feedback to be pretty useless myself and yes, I am of the same understanding as you, the 3060s are (more or less) the top of the 6600s binned as Xeons, which in my opinion is worth the extra few dollars.


And no one is giving a vote for the QuadGT? Is that because it's so new or because of the BIOS and JMicron issues? The Dig. PWM, solid caps and external CMOS reset switch are a nice bonus and it appears to have amazing potential if Abit does a little bios tweaking.
