Building PC after 7 years. Need some advice about CPU

Hi there fellow geeks.

It has been many years since I build my rig. Now I have about £800 to spare for a PC. I want to build a gaming rig but right now I will keep the GPU for later. Maybe 3-4 months later.

Now what I am really getting confused about is the CPU. What should I get? i7 5820k or i7 4790k?

I heard that skylake will support DDR4 so that means that there's no point of DDR3 anymore considering it will become outdated in no time. But I don't want to wait till skylake either. So should I go for a 5820k?

PS I have a monitor and couple of HDD and SSD already.

If you want to keep this PC for longer time then 5820k is good choice.It is just bit more expensive but you get 2 extra cores and 4 more threads.
