I'm on a tight budget and want a 3600 which I will either pair with a 5700xt or 2070 or something (haven't decided yet) but the price has skyrocketed which I think is due to the current pandemic. Is there another cpu with on par performance that the price hasn't jumped that I could get? Or is it just a bad time to build a pc due to pricing and I should wait? Thanks

Actually, the price has gone down, from $199 to $179. You could try to see if microcenter has any bundle deals to save more cash, but it doesnt hurt to admit when you can't afford something.

There isn't a viable alternative to the 3600, as of right now, its truly in its own class. If its too expensive, you could go for a 2600. I found one on amazon for $120.
