I recently signed up for NewEgg's Preferred Account and would like to take advantage of the 12 months no interest. My budget is $1000 - $1400 (w/ two monitors). I also plan on keeping desktop for about 3-5 years before upgrading. After building this desktop I'm going to sell my old Dell laptop and monitors to recoup some of the cash.
This build will mainly be used for:
Internet (lots of opened browsers simultaneously)
Media (streaming movies, mp3, downloading, etc)
Coding (HTML/CSS)
Photoshop (nothing too heavy)
Some gaming
Multi-tasking
Ideally I don't want to spend more than $1000, but I don't mind spending a bit more for better hardware as long as it's worth it. The goal is to build a super snappy computer that will enable me to multitask for years to come. Below are a few hardware I have in mind:
Case - Corsair 600T (black)
Video/Sound - Will use integrated for now but buy a $100-$150 video card down the road
Memory - G.Skill Ripjaws 16GB (2 x 8GB) DDR3 1600 (PC3 12800)
SSD - Intel 330 120GB 2.5
HDD - WD Blue 1TB 7200 SATA 6.0Gb (We have a home server with Raid set up)
Optical Drive - Don't matter
Power Supply - Recommendation. Is 500W enough?
CPU - Recommendation. Intel i5-3550 or i5-3750k? I don't plan to overclock but I wouldn't mind doing it either.
Motherboard - Recommendation
Monitor - Recommendation. Looking for two IPS 23-24 inches w/ 1920 x 1080 resolution
OS - Stick with Windows 7 or upgrade to Windows 8?
Let me know what you guys think.
