okay i tried asking max pc for some answer but got nowhere with that :pfff: so ill try here.. now dont bag on me too much if i ask some stupid questions, im fairly new to IT but still studying hard :bounce:

okay im rebuilding a old case i found laying around and wanting to end up building a whole new system into it after i finish doing the case.
1. i got a power button wires from the old case but they are 2 pin and ive only seen power supplies with 4 pin, is there a adapater for changing it over?
2. i plan on putting acrylic on each of the sides and was wondering how most people bolt/stick it on there. i see most of it is behind the orginal panel but was wondering how you get it to stay?
3. also can you ever have too much wattage? for now i plan on running just the basic stuff to get it running cause of cash flow but in the future i plan on maybe SLI and other things. would it be okay running a 1000w psu?
4. are CPU,mobo, ram, psu and HDD mostly the things you HAVE to have, please let me if i need something else.
5. can i mount my HDD and if i get SSD anywhere in the case as long as they are secure?
6. may be silly but: if i get some temp gauges, they would plug into my PSU not mobo correct?
7. power supply is going to mount to the top i believe, if i ran 3 fans one 120mm in the front, 2 80mm on top one pointing inside the case and one above the psu pointing out to vent that, would that be enough ventalation?

if i remember anymore of my questions ill be sure to post them, thanks!

This is tough to answer considering we have no clue of your needs, budget, and how old the case is/why should the case be repurposed to begin with.

To start, this form comes in handy: http://www.tomshardware.com/forum/261222-31-build-advice .
I'll try to answer though your immediate questions:
1. From my own experience, most cases have either separated single pin connectors that are labeled. For example, power sw+, power sw-, reset sw, etc. OR, they are bundled together on one making a 2 pin, which is most likely what your seeing. AKA, Power sw + on one side and Power Sw- on another. READ the manual for the motherboard you will potentially get, as that will tell you where to connect those. If they aren't labeled + or -, if i'm not mistaken, black or white tends to be -, and colored tends to be +. There should be no need whatsoever to convert those, as they don't attach to your power supply at all. Now UNLESS your referring to the connector that operates your front fan. But if I'm not mistaken, fan connectors are usually 3 pin? Its odd, can't find a 3 pin to molex cable, BUT, I found a fan that comes with one: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16835185144

2. No idea what you mean here. Acrylic to me means clear plastic you can see through?

3. No, can never really have too much wattage. You can of course have too little wattage. This tool is handy on estimating what power supply to get: http://images10.newegg.com/BizIntell/tool/psucalc/index.html. If you put a mid to high end graphics card, that will utilize the most wattage.

4. Indeed. Processor, motherboard, RAM, Power Supply, and Hard drive. However, you missed the optical DVD drive and the Operating System if you plan on buying Windows. Not sure on your level of knowledge, but CPU and motherboard MUST match socket types, power supplies and motherboards must have the right connectors for your hard drives and optical drives. Video cards are essential for gaming.

5. Not necessarily anywhere. If you mean can you mount it in the 3.5" HDD slots even though SSD's are 2.5", then yes, they make brackets for that: http://www.microcenter.com/single_product_results.phtml?product_id=0328852.

6. Don't know. I never find a use for them, especially since I don't overclock. I use software programs like Speedfan to get rough estimates of the CPU and Hard Drive. GPU/graphics card temps can be obtained through either NVidia or ATI software.

7. the 120mm in the front should be pointing inside. the 2 80mm on the top should be pointing OUTSIDE the case. As a rule, I always use a fan also on the rear end of the case pointing outside, as thats where the majority of the CPU heat can dissipate.

Again, fill out that form, and we can give ya an idea of what parts to buy. Welcome to the forums 🙂. Be sure to read the top stickies they are filled with tons of useful info: http://www.tomshardware.com/forum/288241-31-faqs-build-advice-buyer-guides-troubleshooting. By the way, if you have Micro Center nearby, they can walk you through the whole process, and assemble it for you for I think $200. It seems like a lot, but if your unsure on how to do it or don't have the time, it can be worth it. Just be wary, they warrant the work for I think only 30 days, so if something goes wrong after that, you'll need to self-diagnose which part is bad.

thanks alot man, yea im sorry i didnt really give much info but its a really old case that im trying to make work for now just so i can say i built it lol.
1.yes i saw something like sw on one side so that must be it.
2.yes acrylic is the see thru plastic, alot of people use it on the side of the case, just didnt know if there was a special way to install it, pretty sure it would crack if you put a bolt thru it.
3. thanks for this. ill prolly buy a good PSU, plan on running atleast one if not two graphic cards, and most likely 2-3 monitors.
4.yea i got a optical drive in my old pc i plan on taking out if its compatiable, and i got 2 windows 7 pro from school. and yea i know the basics for most hardware but thanks for the heads up.
5. so if i made a bracket going vertical instead of horizonal, would it not work or is that okay?
6. oh okay thanks, ill look into this a little more.
7.okay thats what i was wondering. because my PSU is going to mount to the top back side and its where i was install a fan so i figured i could face it outward and it be fine. not sure if ill have room to mount one on the back. if i built new legs for it to kinda sit up higher think i could install one on the bottom maybe to do that same ?

i will post the setup i plan on running in a few mins kinda make sure everything is capable. and no ive looked for a micro center but i just moved and there isnt on within like 200 miles of me lol.

these are the items ill buy right off the bat to get the system running:
