This case Coolermaster MB520 has four RGB built in case fans. Do these case fans need to be connected to the Fan headers on the motherboard? The motherboard only has 2 fan headers (MSI B450M PRO-M2 V2) but do they have to connect to the motherboard or do they run by themselves?

Solution
Fans don't ever "run by themselves". Like like asking if you have to put gas in your car or if it just "runs by itself". LOL.

Yes, they must be connected to either a fan hub, that in turn must be connected to one of the motherboard fan headers, OR, they must be connected to the motherboard themselves. Not a problem having only two fan headers so long as they are of the same type as your fans, 4 pin PWM or 3 pin DC controlled, whichever yours comes with, OR if your motherboard has the ability to choose whether they are going to be PWM or DC controlled which MOST modern motherboards can do. That is a very low end model though, at the bottom of the B450 product stack, so I don't know if that unit's BIOS has that ability or not. You'll...

In any case, one of these kits, or two such cables, will allow you to connect four fans to the two motherboard headers.

Solution
No worries. You don't know if you don't ask. There are no stupid questions, except the one you failed to ask.

So yes, two of those PWM fan cable splitters should solve the issue IF your case doesn't come with an integrated fan hub and honestly, I think connecting them to the motherboard is better than using a fan hub anyhow because usually it gives you better control through the BIOS although many integrated fan hubs DO connect to the motherboard, on any sys_fan header that is a four pin, and if so, that's fine. You can still set the fan curve profile in the bios and it will apply it to all the fans connected to the fan hub if you do so.

Connected to the mb would be best. That way they can be controlled with software or at the very least the bios.
