Hi guys,

We just did a new build and everything works ok but the WiFi card. Our Mobo came with one but when we ran speed tests, we only got 1-2 megs. We then bought a USB dongle and that ended up getting us to 600 megs. But hubby is saying that WiFi cards are much better so we decided to buy another one to see if it's just the one that came with our mobo but even with this new one, we only get up to 15megs if lucky.

Few Questions:
  1. Do you guys know if there's any troubleshooting or any way we can fix this?
  2. Any reason why built in wifi adapters dont get faster speed that USB?
  3. Are USB WiFi adapters bad?

Also, we are subscribed to 1 gig for internet and I know were never gunna get there unless hardwired. And I can't hardwire due to how our home is.

Here is our build:

MOBO: TUFGAMING x570 PLUS WIFI
PROCESSOR: RYZEN 5
VIDEO CARD: RADEON RX580
500 GIG SSD
16 G RAM
MONITOR: VG245

Thanks guys!

Solution
Verify that you don't have the Asus "Game First" software loaded. That will kill your performance. Make sure you have the plastic antenna "the shark fin" connected to both ports on the motherboard.
