Wanted to share my build and say thanks!:
PCPartPicker part list / Price breakdown by merchant
CPU: AMD - Ryzen 5 2600 3.4 GHz 6-Core Processor ($160.98 @ Newegg)
Motherboard: MSI - B450M BAZOOKA Micro ATX AM4 Motherboard ($79.99 @ Amazon)
Memory: G.Skill - Ripjaws 4 Series 16 GB (2 x 8 GB) DDR4-3000 Memory ($139.99 @ Newegg)
Storage: Samsung - 860 Evo 500 GB 2.5" Solid State Drive ($72.99 @ Amazon)
Video Card: MSI - GeForce GTX 1060 6GB 6 GB GT OCV1 Video Card ($239.99 @ Newegg)
Case: Thermaltake - Versa H18 MicroATX Mini Tower Case
Power Supply: EVGA - SuperNOVA G3 550 W 80+ Gold Certified Fully-Modular ATX Power Supply ($39.99 @ Amazon)
Monitor: Viewsonic VX 2758 Curved 27" 144Hz
In total, I spent about $800 for those main components (not including monitor).
I added a few more fans, so there are 4 fans total, and the case has excellent air flow, so my temps are under 40C.
For someone with hardly any experience, I think I made good choices! I just wanted a great entry-level build, relatively future-proofed (the mATX mobo has 4 RAM slots), compact system which could definitely handle any game I want to play. (And wow, games are incredible on this thing).
From the time I first pushed the power button, to installing Windows 10, to installing the drivers/software for my mobo and gfx card, everything went flawlessly. (Which I was not expecting). I am flabbergasted by the speed of my system... it boots in like 7 seconds and I can open a browser within 2 seconds of starting up. I was previously using an old Acer Revo super compact PC with only 4GB of RAM lol. I simply had no idea what I was missing. Even the 144Hz display feels much smoother and reduces my eye strain, despite everyone telling me that unless I was a hardcore gamer, 144Hz isn't necessary.
I just wanna say thanks to everyone here who helped put me in the right track for a build list (I really had no idea where to begin) and answered some concerns I had. I spent lots of time browsing other people's answers, too, to the same questions I had. (Tried not to spam the forum). Great place.
As my first build, this has been incredibly fun, and I wish I could do it all over again!
