The title pretty much explains it all. I built my first computer yesterday with these parts http://pcpartpicker.com/p/mHX7NG
It ran perfectly last night, but today the computer crashes and reboots a few minutes after i get to my desktop. When it crashes, my whole computer turns off including the LED lights on my motherboard/RAM. Then 30 seconds to a minute later, it all boots right back up and the pattern continues.

The cpu/motherboard power connectors are correctly pushed in.

It first happened when it was plugged into a surged protector, so I tried to plug it into the outlet and it still happened.

Could this be from a faulty psu?

Another issues I found out is that my BIOS does not show my cpu temperature, but that has been going on since yesterday.

I believe I should mention that it happens more quickly if I open a program such as Steam or Firefox and install something. Would this be a possible symptom of a faulty power supply?

Hmm, firstly just try going into the BIOS if you can and reseting everything to default settings! if that does not work try removing your GPU and booting from the on board graphics, if no luck try booting with just one stick of ram and then try the other on its own also and see what happens!

The motherboard has no on board graphic card. I'll try the default settings and ram.

hm that could be as it is drawing more power as the cpu is drawing power however such a little amount of power I can't see that causing it to crash, try removing the graphics card first of all and try and run the programs if the problem persists dodgy power supply if it doesn't it could mean not enough watts or bad power supply or a bad graphics card
