Built new pc but it does not turn on

I just built my own computer and although the mobo led lights up it shows no sighns of life. The case is a XION axp 100 series, the mobo is an Intel D915 GAV with a 3 gig processor, it has the recommended 2 gig DDR400 memory sticks, and a brand new 700w psu. I put everything together, I wired up the front panel the way it's shown on the mobo diagram and the mobo led lights up. But when I hit the power switch or reset button nothing happens, no fans power up no sign of life. What can it be???? Help me please.

There are a few possibilities:

1. Your RAM/MOBO is not compatible.
2. Your Power Supply is Dead

had 2 dead CPU's with this behavior. unfortunately you can't confirm that without having a spare CPU to test. if bought with an online retailer you'd have to either exchange with them or RMA to the manufacturer.

Also note that modern CPU's need an extra power connector near the CPU socket.
