I've assembled everything to the best of my knowledge, i've got power to everything and all the fans are going. I've successfully installed Windows 8, but very soon after computer started to lag hard and drag on like a turtle. I hit the PSU switch after it being frozen for a few mintues and now I cannot get past the Slanted window loading screen. The balls just jump around over and over.

Please help?

My specs are below.

Not an expert by any means, but is that power supply big enough? Can you link your parts picker list? Is the CPU fan spinning? Lagging after its been going for a few minutes sounds like its overheating somewhere.

Does your system boot into BIOS in a reasonable time?
check the sata mode in BIOS.

since you can actually boot into windows but it takes a long time you may have a crappy cable connection from the drive to the motherboard.

If it is correct I would look the disk subsystem starting at the cables, then if I don't find anything I would move the cable to a second port, if that does not find anything, I would check any secondary SATA controller I have on the motherboard. That fails, then try another drive.
