I have a Core 2 Duo System and i was wondering what program i can use that will push both cores. I have used Prime95 but it is only taxing one of the cores. Any suggestions would be great and i do apologize if this is in the wrong place. Thanks

Well,

I never heard that "burning in" made it work better. The reason I run prime 95 is to test for stability. I let it run for about 24 hours. I don't think this guy was actually thinking the same way you were. It seems to me he wants to run prime or some other program to test the cpu and componets for errors. At least that is what i gathered from his post. If that is the case, follow my link, go to the first google link, and do as they say. Prime 95 IS a good way to test for hardware failures, especially when overclocking.

Heyyou27 didn't say it made it work better, he was negating the myth that people said it made it work better.

it's simply a myth that stressing your CPU a lot at purchase makes it work better in the future.

Intel's TAT allows you to load either core independently or both simultaneously.

That is fine, what I was saying, is that I don't think the OP was asking about that. He was probably just using Prime95 for the same reason everyone else like us uses it. That reason would be to look for errors. I wasn't try to say anything about heyyou, I know he is a good poster, I normally read his posts. I just think he was off track on what the original poster was asking, and confused by the title which said burn in question. I don't think the poster had that in mind, and probably should have said stress test question, instead of burn in question. That is just the way I interpreted the posters question.... that's all.

Make a 2nd shortcut to Prime95 using:
"C:\Program Files\Prime95\Prime95.exe" -A1

It'll load a 2nd instance, then run the Torture Test on both, but remember to split the RAM allocated to each one or it'll be paging heaps and not use much CPU Time at all.

eg: With 2 cores and 2 GB, I recommend 2 instances each with 704 MB (or more - but under 960 MB) each:

It did. Worked like a champ. Started it this morning. 30+ minutes and no errors so far for me. :)

Left it running, so it'll have a good 12 hours by the time I get home. Keeping my fingers crossed!
