Burn-in?

Buying a new pc in a few days.

They mention something about "burn-in" time requirements before shipping. Could someone explain what that is?

They may just let it run for a few hours and run some intensive programs before they ship it. If any parts on a computer are going to fail they'll do so within the first few hours of operation. Also, they may be testing for overheating and making sure the circulation is adequete.

I was informed that the burn-in time was around 48 hours.

It's midrange SSF system around $1500.

Has a 2.8 Intel, Audigy Z2S, and an ATI 9800 A-I-Wonder.

Man that's a lot of dough! I'm doing a 2.8C for a guy onw on an IS7 for less than a grand.

What was the pricetag on that A64 system you just built?

It was less than a grand. But it was on a Chaintech VNF3-250 with only one SATA 120gb drive. 1-gb OCZ PC3500 Performance, NEC-2500A, Sapphire 9600XT, Dynapower case, etc. God it runs good!
