Burn Problem

i have a phillips 24x/4x/2x cd-writer, and when i try to burn a cd, the first one, i can burn it at 4x, but when it burn the second one, it always burn it just at 2x. And sometimes it mades some errors. any help?

What burning program are you using? Is it CDR or CDRW that you are burning? More information regarding the situation would be helpful.

Which software are you using? Is there any option in the software's settings to set the writing speed for first and subsequent CDs?
