Burned Nvidia 780- no longer working

Playing Diablo III and I smelled a horrible burning smell coming from my comp. The whole thing shut down and I assumed it was my PSU. I went to isolate the problem and found out it was my 780. It looked fine on the outside but it no longer works. I put in my backup, an old 560ti but I want to ensure this doesn' t happen. What would cause my 780 to burn up like that? I have thermal cooling, processor temps at 30 c, and casing has great ventilation. I am going to buy a 900 series but want to make sure first that this won't happen again. Please give some input if you know, thank you in advance. Also the 780 card is not even a year old yet.

Who is the vendor of your graphics card? Submit a RMA ticket ASAP.

What is your power supply's mfg/model/wattage? I'm not 100% convinced that the problem wasn't either your household current, your PSU's lack of ability to protect your components, or a defect in your PSU itself.

I got it from Microcenter I will get a ticket going. My PSU is a Corsair CX series 750 bronze. So you think it might be my PSU? Should I get a new one or continue to use my current one? Just a little nervous now. Thank you for the quick reply.

Any other answers? I put in an old graphics card while I wait to buy a new one. I am afraid to put in the money to buy a nice new card only to have it fry a couple of days later. So far the old card is working fine but I would like some feedback. The previous member mentioned it could be the PSU do any of you recommend that I replace the psu just in case, or what should I do?
