I don't feel like trying but what happens when u put a burned PC100 RAM chip (that my friend burned) into another motherboard with a compatible DIMM slot?

will the motherboard DIMM slot be burned out also?

also my friend reported that his DIMM-Slot 3 no longer functions ...he could put memory in but POST halts at some point...i find it rather weird...is it because his DIMM slot is burned?

I accidently bought PC133 256MB untested RAM from ebay for 7 dollars....what's the worst that can happen?

system specs:
intel pentium 3 550mhz (5.5x100) slot 1
256MB PC133 RAM
80GB WD HD
nVidia TNT M64 32MB AGP
52X24X52 CDRW by Memorex
Xubuntu Linux

I would assume the worst that could happen is that you could short the DIMM slot and damage the motherboard.

I would probably snap the stick in half and buy a stick from a reputable retailer in box condition, or buy another computer
