Burner choices

My neighbor is looking into getting a burner for her Gateway computer. I recently purchased a TDK VeloCD 12/10/32 for myself and I very pleased with it but I feel the $230-and up price tag is just too much for what she needs. Can anyone recommend a high quality burner that they have used in the $100-200 dollar range? My neighbor is an older lady and she will not need any bells and whistles, just reliable, quality performance and burning capabilities.

Try a slower Plextor, maybe the 8x. No Burnproof, but will suffice.

I'm teasing a little, but they do work for the price and retail package still comes with burning software if you are really price conscience.
