Is it possible to burn a movie on a DVD on to a CDR disk?
Not exactly

Can I do this with clone CD?
NO!

To copy a dvd you have to rip it with like Clad to remove the protection and then you go to encode it to a smaller format using divx or wme v.8 and flaskMPEG for like 27 hours, and then you can finally burn it. Whole sites are dedicated to this. like www.digital-digest.com It is easier just downloading them off kazaa, but then you don't have a clue what you get. of course kazaa gives you spyware. Get divx 4.0 divx.com to watch those ripped movies.

even dvd burners cannot copy DVDs. DVD-R disc hold max like 4.2 gigs while a real dvd has 17.2 gigs space if it uses the 2 layers on both sides.

My conclusion is it is not worth it trying to copy dvds. just buy them.

Totally off topic:
PSNs on pentium 3s suck. Turn the processor serial number off.

I don't want to copy DVDs just burn some video files like .mov or .mpg onto a CD-R that will be readable in a regular CD player.

Did you get any other replies?

I hope you are making progress on this.

All the best - HS

For mpegs, many burning programs offer a wizard with which you can tell it to "Create VCD".

Can you give any examples of these 'many programs' that burn VCD?

Are any of them freeware ones?

Two of the most popular are ahead's Nero and Roxio's Easy CD creator. I thinkt that ahead offers a demo of their software on their site, www.ahead.de.

This makes absolutely no sense in response to the question.

I have had Easy CD for a long time and I have used Nero also.

Neither one makes any reference to burning DVD compatible
video CDs using a CD-R burner.

I think you probably misunderstood the question!
