If you're getting the 9600GT dirt cheap ($15-20) then id say get it and wait until you have saved up enough for a HD7850. I'm using a 9600GSO and i can run crysis 2 at 1280x1024 on gamer settings with an e2160 1.8GHz (very old dual core cpu) your i3 will easily handle the 9600gt and you'll be able to handle most games fine with no anti aliasing and medium settings at 1280x1024. However if you're wanting to game on a higher resolution save up 130-150 to buy a HD7850 which will let you run any of todays games on high settings

What resolution are you planning to play at ?

Assuming you're gaming at less than 1920 x 1080p

up your budge 10 dollars and buy a 7750 HIS

That will easily allow you to even play at high settings most of the games,

with some new games at medium to low settings without any problems.

Crysis 3 might be an exception no matter what. But you'll be able to play Metro 2033 at 45 to 50 fps with medium settings.

What more could you want ? 😀
