First let me go ahead and say that i got a pretty cheap motherboard. However due to my Ignorant self and all the forums i read online saying not to oc this motherboard due to its VRM chips overheating easily i decided against my better judgement and proceeded to oc.
In the midst of running prime95 i was one hour into it when one of my cores failed so of course next step was to increase the vcore another .01 i ran prime95 again and let it run its course for about 20mins and went about my business. I came back at that 20 min interval to check the temps with HWmonitor and as soon as i stepped into my room i smelled was seemed to be a plastic burning smell. I could not pinpoint it to my pc however and my Grandparents could not even smell it. I shut my pc down and proceeded to sniff around. I checked the PSU, CPU, The back of the motherboard maybe hinted at a smell but nowhere near as strong as what i smelled when i walked into the room. the smell hovered above my desk.(My pc sits on a hardwood floor under my desk.) PSU is Top Mounted. Keep in mind i have plenty of fans running on my pc and i don't care if it sounds like a jetliner taking off.
Should i proceed? Or should i back off and get a new motherboard worth oc.
I am Hoping its just my Hypochondriac self
AMD FX-8320 (4.4ghz) OC~1.38vcore
M5A78L-M/USB3
16gb ram
Thermaltake 650smart
GTX 680

CPU temp under load-42c
CPU socket temp under load-52c
Motherboard temp under load-32c

i got fans shooting directly at the VRM chips
i got a Hyper 212 evo
i even put a backside fan on my PSU for extra pull
Its a damn turbine of air running through the case

OP has found the issue. Rather embarrassing too. I had a old soldering iron that was on a bookshelf and i mistakenly plugged it in instead of one of my chargers. Closing thread
