Question Burnt CPU pin/s? What can be the cause?

Hi guys my friend just burnt her pins on her Intel I5-3rd gen processor. The system still runs fine but it overheats more often now... What can be possible causes of this?
Bad PSU? Different frequency RAMS? Cheap heatsink fan with cheap paste that she bought from China?

very marginal contact with either correct power supply pins on mainboard, or, contact with incorrect pins due to CPU shifting in socket when clamping down heatsink

See what assorted package/core temps are shown in HWMonitor. Perhaps the underside contract pads are merely discolored from age/heat, and the CPU might be overheating from other causes.... (Intel's included factory sink will win no 'best cooler' awards any time soon, but, as long as the fan is turning and not burnt out, and the paste not solidified with age, they still generally manage to keep temps under 80C...as long as the sink is still locked down.

Is there a chance that a faulty power supply can cause an over voltage leading the CPU to fry? It's still working fine though... Little scuff burn marks on the Mobo where the cpu is situated, but the idle temps are pretty high now. Around 40 even without any heavy load.
