Burnt FireWire Chip

I made a bit of a whoopsie just before Christmas when rebuilding my PC, I plugged a USB header into the firewire port on my motherboard, resulting in me killing the FireWire chip and my keyboard ...

I've since replaced the board, as getting it repaired by Asus turned out to be a ball-ache. "How much will it cost?" "We'll tell you once it's repaired." no ty.

Reckon it's safe to use without killing other components? I can live without front panel USB (they still worked) and firewire.

Just disable the device in your BIOS and proceed with caution until you know the system is stable otherwise.

It seemed fine when I booted it just after it happened (Had to get contact details for the retailer), I'll disable them and hope for the best 😛 ty
