Burnt Pixel?

Hi all,

Yesterday I took delivery of my new Philips 190X7 19'', non wide TFT monitor. Image quality wise, it is no Trinitron CRT of course (could not find a CRT : 🙁) but it is pretty good for an LCD. The problem I have is a tiny, but rather annoying for a brand new monitor, gray-ish dot (much like dust) in the middle of the panel. It is mostly visible on white background as you imagine. As I am unfamiliar with LCD technology (apart from my 6 year old laptop
), is this a burnt pixel or merely what I read as a ''stuck'' one? Any remmedies? Should I get the monitor replaced or is there any fix?

Thanks in advance.

Cheers mate. Good thing it is just stuck...perhaps it can get a tow. 😉 I will try that programme when I get home. If it does not work out I reckon I can get a replacement, as in Europe all you have to do is ring Philips and they send you another one, no questions asked. Then again, there is no guarantee that the new one (or perhaps just a refurbished example?) will work flawlessly either.

As far as that 19' CRT is concerned... I would not mind an inch less viewing area as long as I had superior resolutions, refresh rates, colour accuracy, real black and zero response times. Space is not an issue either. :)
