Hello everyone, I need help as my computer has recently stopped functioning.
I left it on idle for a few hours and when I returned it had shut off completely. I pressed the power button and noticed a burnt smell radiating from the case. The display never came on however the fans on CPU, case, and GPU were spinning. I opened the case and found the smell was coming directly from the power supply. On closer inspection, the GPU fans were starting and stopping in an alternating fashion. I have not added any new parts or noticed any signs that anything was wrong with PC.
What is the most likely diagnosis? PSU stopped providing enough power be able to display on monitor but all other parts are functioning?
How should I go about finding out? I was planning on purchasing a new PSU and trying to boot.
