Last night I was playing a game with a friend when I noticed the smell of burning plastic. I had smelled this once before when I was helping a friend build a PC. I immediately shut off the PC and tried to find where the smell was, but oddly, it was completely gone. I'm using the PC right now (important school project due tomorrow, so I don't really have a choice) and I don't smell anything.

I know this problem has been posted many times before, but the thing that makes my situation different is that I don't smell anything at all anymore. The only thing I could find wrong was this:

A very small amount of sticky residue on my PSU. I don't know how else to describe it except clear and sticky. I'm almost positive it wasn't there last time I opened the PC up. It seems entirely unrelated to me.

The PSU is a Corsair CX750. I've had the PC since August 2013, and my PSU warranty expires this month, so if it's the PSU I need to send it in ASAP. Nothing in the PC has ever been overclocked. Please send me suggestions
