I will be using 1 144hz 1080p screen(have currently) and 2 60hz screens(not bought yet but see no point in 3 144hz monitors for (5760x1080 resolution.)) Have 1 gtx 980 asus strix 4gb and have money for 2nd and 2 more monitors. Shoulod i just but 2nd 4gb version and sli or sell the 4gb version when they release the 8gb and get 2.

Do I really need the 8gb ram for 5760x1080?

Will be getting money for it in mid febuary or early march.

Just posting specs so people dont ask

I'd get a second 980 and then save up for two more monitors. If you actually like and care for the 144hz screens, you'll quickly come to realize that you won't even be able to put image quality settings high enough in most games to take up more than 4GB without dipping significantly under 100fps, thereby mostly negating the whole point of having them (increased motion clarity, faster response, etc). I run 6040x1080 @ 120fps with two GTX 780s and when I actually use surround, I prefer to keep settings down to keep FPS up, which pretty much always keeps me under the 3GB vram limit. You'll have to experiment for yourself and see if you even really like surround enough to use it often. If you do, chances are you'll quickly come to regret being hobbled by the 60hz refresh rate since you'll be forced to use it on your 144hz monitor as you can't mix and match refresh rates in surround.
