I had 2 really old GeForce cards in my desktop which I use to display 3 monitors just for everyday use. I was sold a Visiontek R9 280X at an unbeatable price so I bought it however I need an active miniDP to VGA or DVI adapter if I want to use it with my 3rd monitor (says Visiontek support).
I want to know which option would be best for me based on other peoples experience:
1. Buy a miniDP adapter and use one single R9 280X to get 3 monitors
2. Buy a 2nd cheaper GPU to use to support 3 or monitors in case I want more than 3
3. Buy a 2nd GPU that can crossfire with R9 280X to get "maybe" better performance and more than 3 monitors?
For buying a 2nd GPU I don't have that much cash left over to buy another R9 280X. I could probably spend $50 or less, and I am open to used GPUs.
For the 3rd option, I'm not sure what can crossfire with an R9 280X.
I don't really game too hard, I play CS GO, occasional BF4, Warcraft 3, Dota 2, etc. But I almost always play on Low/Med res (I don't really care for 1080p ultra/high), my monitors are 1280x1024. I watch a lot of HD Youtube, Movies, TV Shows and my old GeForce was dying out.
Thanks
