Buy a monitor from Newegg or Amazon??

Solution
Thanks! Kinda depends on where you live. I assume you live in the U.S. or Canada. I have had absolutely fabulous customer service from Newegg. Couple years ago friend and I built a system using two Asus monitors from 'egg, and at some point within the two weeks one had a problem. We had purchased quite a lot from them ($$$) so I did an RMA over the phone and they even paid for shipping BACK to them, and within 5 business days we had the new monitor.
Sometimes others can beat their prices, sometimes by quite a sum, but the service and speed of delivery is wonderful.
(Last order, to rebuild a PC, was placed ~8p.m. on 8/21 with paid 3 day shipping; couldn't believe it when it arrived on 8/23 about noon!)
My son-in-law swears by Amazon. If you pay to become an Amazon Prime member, then shipping is reasonable or free and is 2day. I have purchased a few things from them, but never had to return anything. Prices are good. Constant emails about their products etc. are a pain.
The Dell you are looking at is a really nice monitor. I am typing this my Dell U2410. If you are going to buy the monitor on credit, consider going directly through Dell by opening a Dell Charge account: That worked well with my purchases, but I don't think they over the Newegg advantage of no-interest payoff within a certain time period based on the $$$amount of purchase.
Hope this helps.

Yeah I have had great delivery times with both companies...but luckily have never had to send anything back. I'm in MD so the rest of my parts from Newegg got here next day from NJ. I have read the horror stories of both in regards to bad monitor RMA's. The two monitors are neck and neck for reviews which make it a tough choice...especially right now when they are almost the same price on Amazon ($36 diff). I have always had good luck with all of my Dell monitors (CRT) in the past. The LG L2000CP I have now was my only sway from Dell...but I have had Asus GPU's with no problems also. Dunno about their monitors except from the reviews. I always like to buy tried and true equipment too...and IPS has been around longer.

Is there a manuf. date or revision number to look for so I dont end up with a RMA'ed turnaround? I thought I saw A02 on one of the comments...forgot which brand.

I wont be financing but thanks for the tip. Just have to make the decision. I was hoping for better prices for Labor Day weekend.

Thanks for your help nostall.

Sorry, can't help you with maufacturing dates or model/revision. If you can find a manufacturing date then, of course, the newest one you can find. You might want to research the MaximumPC (www.maximumpc.com) site as they have at least one good "face-off" review in the last year for monitors. Their Best-of-the-Best list lists - and this might not help - the Dell U3011 and the Asus PA238Q (I think this has since been replaced by ASUS) as the winners and choices as a result of their reviews.
Defective Turret (What a swell name! Wish I''d thought of it.), when you are all done with this thread and satisfied with the answers please don't forget to close it marking a best answer.

They probably wouldnt...or claim they cant...check the manuf. date or rev# before they ship anyway....so not much use until it gets to your door.

I'll take a look at MPC..thanks. I wish I could go for Dell's 30"...my eyes need all the help they can get now days.

Yeah I like the Defective Turret...but it was a toss up between him and Space Core..both cracked me up.

Thanks again for your help nostall.

You're welcome, thanks for joining Tom's and posting. What picture would you have used for Space Core (nah, ain't gonna steal the name. I have had this nickname for 14 years, I ain't changing).

My pleasure.

Didnt have a picture picked out for Space Core...and since I'm disabled Defective Turret was more appropriate. LOL
