I live in Ecuador and my mom's coming to visit me in 2 weeks.

My laptop has been inconsistently recognizing USB peripherals such as mouse, keyboard, phone, and flash drive. They'll just stop working for a few min. then come back. Sometimes I have to wiggle the cords for 30 seconds.

I've tried a lot of the techniques on youtube to fix it such as going into device manager, disabling, re-enabling, re-install drivers, etc. etc. I tried so many I don't even remember many of them.

None of them really helped my case. I've tried 2 different mice and 2 diff. keyboards. Same thing.

Could this warrant replacing the USB port board?

Would it be a good idea to buy an extra port board, it's like $3-4, just in case they totally stop working?

Or I am totally looking at the wrong angles?

Shipping to Ecuador is expensive and there might be flat fee tariffs too. That is why I would prefer buying now and having my mom bring it.

Very few laptops have replaceable USB subsystems. Most of the time they are part of the motherboard. If your laptop is from a manufacturer that has a docking station as an option (HP, Dell, Lenovo...) you might be able to use a docking station to give you a new set of USB ports.
