Neither. And dont listen to these guys. Go buy the r9 290, throw a aftermarket cooler on it and launch rockets into space. When mantle comes out, these GNC cards by amd will shit on nividia. ESPECIALLY in games like bf4. Nividia blows.

why would someone pay $499 for a card with an msrp of $399? if you bought one in early november when it came out... awesome... but paying $100 more 2 months later is ultimate fail.

Lmao. Gtx titans are $1000 and perform on the same level( if not worse when amd mantle comes out) as the r9 290s. I payed 650 for the r9 + aftermarket cooler. Im getting 70- 120 fps MAXED out @ 1920x 1080 on battlefield 4. So what better?Spending $350 on a card thats worth 350, or spending 650 on a card thats worth easily $1000 as the r9 290 is.

Here we go with whole mantle thing it wont really do much its overhyped magical thing that will make ati cards work 300% faster right. i fix computers for a living of all the ati issues its not worth getting amd anything nvidia is the clear winner no matter what ati fanboyism says get back to me when amd makes decent drivers or not have their cards run as hot as the sun i might change my mind.

I am and AMD fand myself and if you are in a country where the price hasn't risen (in my country it's the same) get a R9 290. If you are in a country where the prices have risen go NVIDIA. Either a 780 or sli 770 (4gb model for sli).

Bro you may fix computers but clearly you dont know much. Did you forget like 2 years ago nividia cards were running ard 105° on full load??? And no shit it wont make the amd cards better by 300%. But it will increase performance by MINIMUM 15% and in the computer world (a world you must be alien to) 15% increase is a BIG number. Use your brain then your fingers.

You clearly miss the point and don't know what you are talking about. as far as your 15% its very doubtful and on what 1 game that does not even support it yet ? do you honestly think all the developers are going to just flock to ati just to use mantle and not pay any attention to nvidia? in all honestly it will fail unless they can apply the same thing to nvidia as it has been proven with physx from nvidia and if they do that ati will not have any advantage of mantle.

newtothis2 i still use gtx 670 and it runs any game on max just fine don't listen to that guys comments for 780 lasting 1 year he has no idea what he is talking about as both cards performance wise are basically the same and they cost about the same.

I would get the GTX 780 Classified before I bought a R9 290x. People that say that kind of heat doesn't matter are fooling themselves. Why the hell would I spend $629.00 on a R9 290X reference ( that's what they are going for on Newegg) and spend another hundred or so on a aftermarket cooler or water block when I can buy a GTX 780Ti for $729.00 which is about the same price as the R9 290x after you add in an aftermarket cooler. And the Ti is a better made overclocking beast.
