buy laptop with 5700hq or wait for skylake i7 6700hq

Hello i was planning to buy a Msi ge72 laptop with i7 5700hq and a nvidia 965m, but i started to hesitate after the skylake release with ddr4 ram, so according to the current prices, i can buy for the same price an i5700hq with 965m gpu or wait for the GE72 with i7 6700hq and 960m gpu.

1) Like most memory speed upgrades, DDR4 looks impressive in benchmarks but provides very little real-world benefit. Typically most memory improvements give about a 1%-2% benefit in real-world tasks, and it looks like DDR4 is no different. I would only wait for Skylake if you can wait, or if you want the improved integrated graphics. The only way I'd factor DDR4 into the decision is that your memory modules would be compatible with future systems...

2) Despite the minor model number difference, the 965m is a much better GPU. It's based on the GM204 core, same as the 970m, 980m, and GTX 970 and GTX 980. The 960m is a GM107 core, same as the 950m, 940m, one version of the 860m, and 850m. It is for all practical purposes an overclocked 860m. In particular, the 965m has better performance than the 960m while generating slightly less heat. It's not like previous generations where the x65m is just a slightly overclocked x60m.

For those wondering what it means to share the same graphics core, nvidia doesn't make a GPU specifically for the GTX 980 or GTX 970 or 980m or 970m, or 965m. They're all the same. They start life on the same assembly line, and are etched into the same silicon wafer, and are all named GM204. After they've been manufactured, nvidia tests each one for defective parts and how high a clock speed they can reach for a given voltage.

The ones that can reach a specific clock speed at a lower voltage are binned as mobile GPUs. The ones that need a higher voltage are binned as desktop GPUs, since those can be paired with a bigger cooling system.

The ones where everything works become GTX 980 or 980m GPUs. The ones with defective parts have those parts disabled (so they don't consume power) and become GTX 970 or 970m or 965m GPUs.

Physically they are all identical, they are just binned differently based on how well they operate at low voltage and how many parts were disabled. So the 965m is basically a somewhat crippled GTX 980.
