Okay, I'm planning to build a new and first gaming rig because I only have a laptop (Acer Aspire 4530) which I use for gaming. And as all you know, all the games I'm playing are laggy. Heck, it even lags in Warcraft III and LoL during clashes. So now I believe BD is just around the corner but my question is -- Will I really need the BD for my gaming purposes? Will it have a significant improvement for gaming compared to what I'm planning now? Because I was thinking would it be like an overkill..

Possibly my new rig:
cpu, i5-2500k
mb, AsRock P67 Pro3
ram, 4gb 2x2 DDR3 1600cl9 Gskill RJX
hdd, 500gb WDC Blue Sata3
gpu, HIS 6950 IceQ X Turbo 1gb
psu, Seasonic 620w S12II - 620 80PLUS Bronze
atx, NZXT Source 210 Elite
hsf, Antec Kuhler 620
odd, DVD HP dvd1260i 24x multiformat DVDwriter OEM

Solution
Id recommend just go with the i5-2500k.

Its great value, with huge performance and lots of potential. You can build a great gaming build on $1000 with the i5-2500k and a GTX 560Ti or 6950.
Either the BD or the new build will be worlds apart from your laptop. We don't know what BD will be like since there has been no actual benchmarks. It is totally up to you whether you feel like you can wait awhile till BD comes out.

Question 1: what kinds of games do you hope to play with your new pc?

2: what is your budget?

Well, I really love playing sandbox-style games. I hope to play games like GTA IV, Just Cause 2, Saints row the third(hopefully). I also like the dota-genre games.
My budget is about $1000 maximum.
