Hello! I have been thinking of buying an Origin PC for a whole year now and I have finally decided to get a new computer. The problem is that building my own turns out to be 1000 euros cheaper and I could get those super futuristic looking cases. This of course made me want to build a computer myself, but my parents think that I will not be able to do it. In fact I myself am very afraid of screwing up and frying expensive components like the Titan Black which will be in the system. I mean, it's like 900 euros! So do you think it's easy enough to screw up for a 14 year old that it justifies buying a boutique PC for 1000 euros more?

And if it's realistic enough to build one, do you think it would be possible to have some experienced guy be live on skype to help me through the process? Because you know, it feels much safer when you have someone who knows what they're doing next to you.

Solution
If you do enough research, you would be fine. It's not that hard if you plan beforehand and don't rush building it.
If you building for a gaming pc, you should not get a Titan Black. For the price of that card it is not worth it.

Thanks for the quick reply.
And what's wrong with a Titan black? For the same price, should I get two cheaper cards in SLI or should I just get a 780 Ti?

Building is the way to go as you have said you will get a lot more for your money. I know you are worried about breaking something but that is not a big risk as long as you are careful and patient and do your research. However in the UK some suppliers (I have used scan) will sell you an insurance very cheaply which will cover you against accidental damage, I think mine was £15 on £700 worth of parts. I have built before but the insurance was so cheap I decided it was worth it for peace of mind with my last build.

You need to decided what resolution and fps you want before deciding what GPU solution to buy.

More or less, but even more so for 3-D rendering and movie developement and special effects.

I built my first PC when I was 12, and things were alot more complicated then with IDE PATA Drives and lack of information from the internet. My advise, use PC parts picker, its a website that allows you to choose your own parts and tells you about incompatibilities due to size, wattage, etc... Or we could throw some suggestions at you. Also youtube is chalk full of how to videos on how to do this.
