I'm currently using an i3-8350k @4.8GHz which I adore and it's been a really good improvement over my old i5-3340, however, a few games I play are encountering a CPU Bottleneck (100% usage, but only like 70% on my 1080, these were AC: Origins and Watch Dogs 2. I've just put up with it, but I'd like my PC to last quite a few years, and if it's already being outclassed by certain games, then I'd like to upgrade while I have some spare cash.

Now, the question is which processor, I can get an i7-8700k for £350 and the i7-9700k is currently open for pre-orders at £500 which I know isn't enough to justify the performance gains, so I can either wait until the i7-9700k comes down in price, or bite the bullet and go for the i7-8700k, which do you recommend?

Also, if anyone has any advice on selling a CPU and how much an i3-8350k would fetch, UK of course, that'd be great. :)

Makes sense to me, so at that price point the 8700K would be a good choice. As for the 9700K there's no reviews yet so not much for us to compare and with that price difference doesn't really make the 9700K appealing.

The i5-9600k is the same price as the i7-8700k at £350 and the i7-8700k should beat it, I'm presuming, and the 8600k is in consideration but I'd like to really future proof it and at £300 it's not that much between the i5 and the i7. So I may as well go for the 8700k since I can afford it's price range as it is the best in my budget I believe. :)

That's what I was thinking too, I've seen that it seems to be a small performance bump according to some, but it just doesn't seem worth £150.

I think I'll get the i7-8700k, thank you :)
