Update:

I was just informed by AmEX that I was refunded the total amount MINUS
ten dollars. It seems to me that they should be paying the the
INTEREST they made on top of the FULL refund while hoarding the money
all this time for that bogus 8300 they sent me. All the time spent on
the phone, always having to initiate the contact, and always repeating
myself because they don't communicate.
I'll say this; they are consistant for being irritating.

Yes it's a huge relief to get 99% of the refund, but why should
someone have to go through all this emotional wear and tear. If I had
bought this at a retailer, I would have returned it as soon as I
opened the box. You are at Dell's mercy when you place your order, and
you see where that can lead!

Why the ten dollars? Was this Dell or Amex?
If it was Amex, I would call and cancel the card if they keep the $10.

The reason so many consumers get the short end of the stick, is that far too
many accept the short end of the stick.
Just the opinion of a "cranky old lady".

I gave up trying to "figure" Dell's treatment of their customers some time
back. I'll leave that to others in this group.

Contact the CC company.
Provide copy of Email about $10 if possible.
The CC company should be able to get that back also.
If not, the CC company should be able to explain why not.

The CC company is aware of the missing $10, however they havn't been
givin a reason either. The AmEx agent joked that maybe Dell is paying
the refund in "installments". Nothing wrong with keeping a sense of humor : )
