Im currently interested in buying an AMD 9070 XT GPU and have been for some months now. Obviously there has been a lot contributing to the inconstant prices and whatnot.

After stalking Microcenter religiously lately the first somewhat affordable card has returned to stock. It is the Asrock steel legend for $700 which after stock and deal they have comes out to $706. Deep down it kills me because i was hoping to get the card for about exactly $100 less just months ago. On top of the fact, I have to spend about $290 for a bundle deal at the same time.

This leaves me with some questions that I'm not sure how to go about. Should i pull the trigger now while the card is in stock? Do i wait and hope that prices go back down even just a little bit. If i do that I'm worried then there will be a stock problem again.

I suppose it depends on what you have now and what you're trying to do. I feel the same way you do regarding MSRPs and went through something similar during the crypto boom with the 30 series. I didn't end up getting a card until mid 2022 and even then it was a bit of a premium. I got a 1660 Ti right when the 30 series prices started to skyrocket so I was okay using that until prices got down to what I was willing to pay.

If you currently have a good enough card to be playable in everything on the market I'd say wait. If you do not then I think ~17% over MSRP is likely as good as it gets for a while. It's just so hard to nail down prices right now and the US seems to be the worst.

It’s not a bad price. Personally I’ve got a 5060ti 16gb. It was actually msrp at Microcenter, so $429. Haven’t seen that deal since. I saw the same 9070 xt come up and that they have a 9070 for 659. While I’d love to have one of those cards I don’t know that right now I can justify the extra personally especially since the 5060ti with dlss and frame gen actually is a pretty decent little card. So personally I’m keeping what I’ve got. Now if I get Christmas money and a deal comes up, maybe I’ll grab a card? But right now I’m going to stick with this card for at least a few months.

I’d say it depends on your finances and your budget, take into account your resolution and speed of your monitor.

If you’re at 1440p for example you may find that something like the 5060ti 16gb is perfect for your needs or the upcoming 9060xt 16gb.

To be honest, I had a 7900xtx. Fantastic card btw, but decided I needed to catch up on some bills etc and ended up selling it. When I saw the 5060ti 16gb pop up for $429, which they had 2 and that’s the only time I’ve seen them for that, I grabbed one as a placeholder card.

I can tell you after owning the 7900xtx and then going to the 5060ti, it’s a few steps down for sure. I’m at 1440p. But honestly the 5060ti is fine. Once I started using frame gen and dlss and adjusting settings I’m actually fine with it. For example I can run oblivion remastered with frame gen and dlss on high settings at 1440p and usually be over 100fps. Red dead redemption 2 is what I’ve been playing back through lately and I can set everything basically on ultra with it and it looks great and performance is fine on it. I fired up kingdom come deliverance 2 which I played through and beat on the 7900xtx, playing that on high settings with dlss etc on the 5060ti is a perfectly acceptable experience to me. I think I’d have no issues playing it on that card.

Just making the point, I don’t know your situation but you might look at the new lower mid range cards is all. You may find you can get a great experience without spending as much money. One thing I think I realized is when you’re in the tech community seeing all the new stuff getting released, we get fixated on products and feel like we need that, particularly with gpus. But it was kind of refreshing to me seeing I can have as much fun with a sub 500 dollar card as with one that’s double the price.

What is the rest of your pc and what’s the Microcenter you’re shopping for? Perhaps we can make recommendations whether gpu, cpu etc.

Worth is a tricky thing. It's a pretty good price relatively to the normal prices right now, and I'm not sure the underlying reasons for the price while disappear enough to get you that much closer to MSRP. I objectively overpaid to get a 5070 Ti at retail, and would certainly have liked paying less, but the aggravation saved was worth the cost for me. But it may not be for you. I'd consider if you're happier with the GPU and not having the extra money or whether you're happier with what you currently have with the money in your pocket. In the end, you need to consider your own values and needs, and you will know those better than any of us!

Isn’t that’s basically the same price as a 5070Ti ? With the extra 290 doesn’t it make it more than that?

I currently own the hellhound 9070 xt. I really like the card and I think around 700 is a good price for that level of performance. I won't pay 800 or more for that 9070 xt or the competing 5070ti but that's more of personally opinion.
