Buying a Monitor: G-Sync or Better Colors?

I'm looking into buying a 144hz monitor, and I was going for the MSI Optix G24C because it had everything I wanted, but I just came across the Alienware AW2518H which has G-Sync and a 240hz refresh rate as opposed to 144hz.

I hadn't considered G-Sync up until now because all of the monitors were around 2x what I wanted to spend, but the AW2518H is on sale right now, and $380 for a 25" 240hz G-Sync display is an awesome deal.

The problem is now I can decide if it's worth the $180 for G-sync and 100 extra hz but a worse panel. The MSI display has a 3X better contrast ratio, as well as a VA panel instead of TN, but obviously has 100 less hz and doesn't have G-Sync.

A nice monitor, but still doesn't have to colors that the MSI monitor has. I'll keep this one in mind if I do go for G-Sync over colors, though. Thanks!

If you are talking about the display colors in the specs, much of that is marketing hype. Find one on display at an electronics store and compare it with your own eyes.

The MSi Optix G24C appears to be much like any other $200 monitor. It has a 4 MS response time and a 250 cd/m2 brightness. Apart from being 144 Hz it doesn't have much to recommend it as a gaming monitor.

There is a good tool for buying a monitor that I would recommend. It is the search engine at newegg. You can search for just about any criteria that you want (and quickly). Even if you buy elsewhere, it helps with narrowing the possibilities. But try to see the monitor first.
