So, I come from an 8 y.o. 24'' TN 60Hz panel.
What I use the monitor for:
Work: I normally use my laptop for working, but when I'm at home I use the desktop as auxiliary for pdfs/browsing/music (multi-tasking). This is why I'm thinking about getting a bit bigger screen (27'') to be able to see multiple pages simultaneously easily.
Games: Some game play, I'm interested in trying 144Hz since it seems to really change the experience, I'm an occasional gamer, but I give a big importance to the experience while playing and from what I've read and heard, 144Hz would be a big improvement.

I've bought "philips 276e8vjsb ", a 4k 60Hz 27'' IPS panel, but I regretted and took it back, as I literally can't play on it and even though the quality is great, it gave me severe eye strain in just 2 days.
I'm thinking about buying an "hp pavillion 27xq", a QHD 144Hz 27'' TN panel, as it is cheaper than other options in my country (320 euros).

My question is:
Is hp pavillion 27xq a good option? or would you spend more to get an IPS panel like "ASUS MG278Q" for 489 euros?
Also if you have other suggestions, they are well appreciated.
My graphics card is only a 1060 3gb but don't worry about it too much as I plan on upgrading soon enough.

Oops missed that it was 1440P....my bad. Still early and haven't had my coffee yet.

I would still avoid TN panels as the colors aren't nearly as good as VA or IPS. I'd spend a little more and get this not only due to the larger size but also it's VA and does support Freesync.

What types of games do you play? If there more casual and less competitive then some FPS or racing games then 75-100hz would give you a smooth experience. You'll want a VA or IPS panel over TN for the better colors. That HP seems really pricey for what it is but maybe that's due to shipping cost?

Is this available in your area? It's a good price, has excellent features such as Freesync which should work with your 1060 (link on how to do so below) and a fast refresh rate.

Thank you for your answer,
I play more FPS in general. I think the price of the HP is higher because it is QHD. I didn't find any other cheaper with QHD 27'' 144Hz
Yes, I have that monitor for 259 euros here. But the one I pointed out from HP is a bit more expensive because it is QHD, and I would think FHD in 27'' has too low pixel density. That's why I was aiming at a QHD 27'' 144Hz.
I'm ok with paying more to get a VA or IPS if the response time will not make a big difference. But I think being QHD is really important. And I know my graphics won't handle recent games at 144Hz QHD but I will upgrade it eventually.

If I wanted to stay at 27'' since 31.5 is too big for my table, would "ASUS MG279" be a good option despite being 5 years from its release? Or any other suggestions at 27'' VA/IPS?
