I almost bought all the components for my new pc.. I have a case and CPU left to order. I cannot decide where I want to order the CPU. I am trying to save the extra cash by ordering on amazon.. the price difference is not too much.. but on amazon it is currently on sale for 353 dollars with free shipping and a 50 dollars visa gift card. The other option is buying from my local microcenter store for 340+ 20 in tax charge coming to 360 and some cents.. The difference here is either save a few bucks.. and risk having a cpu coming through mail or go to the local store and pay the full price including tax but I can pick it up myself. What is the better choice?

CPU: I7 6700K

I've bought most of my PC parts from Amazon over the last several years.

A CPU? The manufacturer box it comes in is well constructed. You could literally take that box and throw it as hard and as far as you can, and the CPU would be fine. (Don't do this)
Amazon (or Newegg) shipping puts another box with more padding around that.

And unless your local store has its won fab plant, that CPU comes from the same place, the same distance, likely on the same truck. The only difference is the last couple of miles. UPS, USPS, or in your car.

I ordered my mobo from newegg ( gigabyte gaming 7). My friend told me something similar about not buying anything else besides the processor from microcenter.. I really dont know why.. but he said something about them selling refurbished items.

The risk would be i guess shock? And also, if something is wrong with the cpu.. I would have to pay the shipping to return it.. I hate the whole RMA process in general.. but its definitely something that is unavoidable.

I have never bought any pc parts from amazon... so I don't know what to expect.. but thanks for your input.

Yea that does make sense too.. thanks for your input :)
