Buying a new graphics card(gaming and virtual reality)

Hello to community once again. I am about to buy a new graphics card but i dont know which one. So i am between the old r9 280x, r9 290 and 290x and the new r9 390, gtx 970.
My specs are:

Mobo Gigabyte 970A-DS3P
Cpu 8320
Ram Crucial 8GB DDR3-1600MHz
As for the psu i think its either the new CM B700 Ver.2 or B600 Ver.2 (either one of them support all of the above cards so we cool)

I want them for gaming ^_^ and for the upcoming virtual reality 😛

I dont know what your budget is, but as far as the old R9 2xx cards vs new R9 3xx cards, I would get the older R9 2xx version IF it is more than 10% cheaper than its R9 3xx counterpart.

Yeah we're cool on PSU although go with GTX 970 that'll do the job.

It'll provide you plenty of FPS you need right now and also for future gaming.

Liquidshark, just get the GTX 970 it'll do the job well. maybe 1 or 2 years later you could SLI the GTX 970 and Destroy GTX 980Ti and Titan X

970's in sli dont really destroy 980Ti and titan X, more like just barely edges them out, but with less vram.

Yeah he's right SLI build won't really stand between 980TI and TItan X. As they packs up massive VRAM and CUDA cores,ofcourse.

Some games do support SLI better than the others. Sometimes the Gap between the 970 SLI and Titan X is only like 2FPS.

Only a slight boost of 20-30 FPS if optimization takes place other wise on maxed out settings 980ti and TITAN X are the big guns against GTX 970ti SLI
