Buying a new graphics card, will this work?

I am going to buy a Radeon 7850 this christmas and I am just making sure before hand that it would be alright to add to my system the way it is

My specs are: Motherboard - MS-7641
RAM - 8gb ddr3
PSU - 500w
CPU - amd fx-6100

So with my currents specs, am I good to just go and buy the gpu right now? Thanks in advance

Go for Radeon HD 7870. It is better for a bang for the buck and it will run fine on your system.

I agree with the 7870. However if you can't find one, go with the R9 270 as it is just an updated version. They generally run around $180 USD, but they are worth the extra price (compared to a 7850.)

Oh absolutely! That 270x will blow the 7850 away. If you don't mind overclocking yourself, just buy the 270 instead of the 270x. Saves a little extra cash.

Anyway the Hawx graphics card is fine but i have noticed no one has asked you the make/model of your PSU.

I can't find any mention of that PSU anywhere. How many amps on the 12v rail does it have?

I would be very careful about using an AMD 270x with that power supply.
Personally i wouldn't try it🙁

Pentium 4 is a CPU... Searching for CIC 500u only gave me this PSU for 8£ http://item.mobileweb.ebay.co.uk/viewitem?itemId=271202204071 and a 500w PSU from CIT for 20£ which are both rated ~15amps on the 12v rail! Thats just 180watts!! No good PSU, you better not put a 7850 in a PC with that PSU

So it has 2 12v rails with 13amp and 14amp, so its maybe 23amps as single rail. Something around 35amps is recommended by and, so you should get a new PSU from a quality manufacturer like seasonic, corsair, etx

Yeah I bought the PC pre-built. I guess i'll get a new psu to go along with the gpu then

Yes xfx is good, their PSUs are made by seasonic and with 44A on 12v you'll have plenty of power.
