Hi everyone
so i'm affraid that the used hdd will die on me and lost all the games
cause i don't know how many years it have been used
do you recommend buying a new hard drive too wich will cost more
or i'll be fine with this used one?
does playstation hard drives dies often as the pc's do?
any info will be very helpful.

it DEPENDS. Would be smart to connect it to PC and run smart checks:

It's relatively HARD to damage HDD. If you would check blackblaze reports about HDD's, its way past the point of random 15 % drives failing in first year. Last reported ps4 failure rate was less than 1%.
most failing drives exists in vibration rich envs (like laptop). and PS4 it's not something you carry around.
Nothing stops you from checking AND its a good moment for more disc space OR SSHD drive for faster loading times. £90.46 for 2 TB firecuda is not very much if you worry about RE-DOWNLOADING games.

Hello ismmostaar1, all drives will succumb one day or another. You could remove the drive and connect it to a computer and run Seatools for DOS. That will give you the health of the drive. We do offer external game drives in which you could store those games just to be on the safe side.

Let us know if we can answer any questions; we're here to help.

No matter what you choose, we thank you for considering Seagate.

PS4 uses same hard drives as found in laptops: 2.5" drives, standard specs. It should last a while if not abused, but yes, they don't last forever. (as with any other HDD.) If it is a 500GB HDD, you may want to get either an external HDD to connect through USB or just replace the internal, IF you really have a lot of games. PS4 doesn't care about size, as long as it is under 8TB (To), or brand.
