I ordered a Samsung 1TB 860 QVO and as it's my systems first SSD, i'd like to move my windows to it and have it boot from it as it should be a lot faster. The problem is i'm not totally sure how I should do it. I would want to move most of my prorams to it, which means I have to reinstall a bunch of them. Do I have to do something to the SSD to be able to boot windows from it? Does windows have something built in to perform this procedure? I currently have an 2TB HDD.

Samsung have a data migration tool on their website for this purpose.
Call me paranoid but i've never relied on this stuff (unless its a same/similar drive and doing a restore from a backup). New drive, fresh install. It takes time but i'm assured that all and well is in the kingdom.

As for windows recognizing a disk, new secondary disks have to be initialized in disk management. This shouldn't apply to you as youll be either doing a fresh install or it'll be initialized during migration.
If doing fresh install, unplug the HDD before installing windows. Plug it back in after install.
