Buying an SSD. Thoughts?

Solution
I would not build another main use PC without one.

It's far more than just 'load times'.
Reliability, heat, noise...
It transforms the whole PC experience.

If storage space is an issue, then get a bigger HDD. Get only an SSD if and only if you need speed. Games won't benefit from the SSD except for load times. It's probably not worth the price unless you constantly deal with huge files.

I understand how they work. I just want to know if the price is worth it for loading certain things faster. Just looking for some experienced opinions.

You could get a 250gb ssd for like $100 and put your os on it and few frequently played games, it would definitely speed up your whole system and games would load faster. Thats basically it, if you want your computer to boot quicker and be snappier overall then its worth it. Its really up to YOU, if you want the extra speed then get it, not that expensive of an upgrade and it makes and immediate noticeable difference.

Well, I have an extra 970 and PSU I can use for this build, so I guess I have a bit of extra money to spend on something like this. I'll go with a 250gb SSD and 1t HDD I believe. Any suggestions on the SSD model/brand? What is reliable and quality?

Got it, added. Thanks for the help! I'll post some pics on a new topic when I have this thing built :D

Any good brand like Crucial, SanDIsk, and Samsung have good performance models. The Samsung 850 EVO 250GB is about the top selling drive out there and it comes with a 5 year warranty.

I had no issues with system apart from booting and applications loading time, so finally decided to get one. I can say it made a radical enhancement in my whole system experience. I would recommend Samsung 850 EVO 250 GB as later this year we may have Windows 10; and 128 might just not be enough for OS and key apps.
