Buying broken MB's cheap for fixing gamble

I'm kind of interested in going the broken MB route as there's always a ready supply of these. But my question is, what can be fixed and what can't be? For instance, MB's with bent pins looks like 5 minute job. Whereas, I've just seen a P8Z77-V LX that apparently powered off and would not reboot (change of mobo fixed the problem)

Is there any hope to fix these? Or would it be a waste of money trying.

Motherboards are complex and broken ones have a range of issues from broken capacitors, fried circuits or bent pins. Unless you know what you are doing, it is probably not worth fixing them.
